It’s official, Campbell River! Our CEO Veronica Carroll, our Board Director Bryan Thomson, father Nick Chowdhury, and his son Nathan all cut the ribbon and officially opened Q̓ʷalayu House, Campbell River’s new home away from home!

We broke ground just last year and I never imagined that, during a global pandemic, we’d be able to build Q̓ʷalayu House as quickly as we did. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our community and our donors. Without them, none of this would be possible. And because of them, thousands of families will have a safe and affordable place to stay while caring for their child. We are currently building Qwalayu House, a new home away from home in Campbell River. The 10-room home will provide out-of-town families with children and expectant moms a safe and welcoming place to stay while they receive essential health care in Campbell River. Thank you to Vancouver Island Health Authority, First Nations Health Authority, Campbell River Mayor Andy Adams, and the Qwalayu House steering committee for your unwavering support and dedication to making this project a reality. Also, a special thank you to Little Prints Photography, Ricci Miller, for capturing weekly updates of the construction progress.
