Victoria

  • Pancakes & Pajamas

Want to volunteer for a super fun holiday event? Join us in Victoria on Sunday, December 10th for our annual Pancakes and Pajamas event hosted by the Hotel Grand Pacific. It is a feast of fun for kids of all ages where they can enjoy a decadent brunch buffet and holiday festivities in the comfort of their PJs.

We are looking for 5-10 fun and fabulous volunteers to greet guests, sell raffle tickets, decorate cookies and lead some games and activities with kids. The wearing of PJs or onesies is encouraged but not mandatory!

  • Volunteer drivers

Cobs Bread in Eagle Creek Village regularly donates bread to Jeneece Place, a home near Victoria General Hospital where children and their families can stay while receiving medical care. We are looking for one or two volunteers who are willing to pick up the donated bread and bring it to the families at Jeneece Place every three to four weeks on Wednesdays at 6:55 pm.

  • Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular

The holiday season will be here in no time! Want an opportunity to support kids and youth in your community in a meaningful way? Children’s Health Foundation is the charity of choice for the Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular again this year for their performances in Courtenay, Nanaimo, and Victoria! Volunteer ticket-sellers help us raise money in our raffle draw.

Campbell River

  • Community events & fundraising

While we have a long history in the Victoria area, we’re the new kid in town in Campbell River. We are looking to raise our profile up here by building a team of outgoing, positive volunteers who will assist us at community and fundraising events — and we would love your help!

We provide training to ensure you feel prepared and supported as a volunteer. CHFVI is an inclusive organization, and we welcome volunteers of all levels of experience and abilities. At this time, all volunteers must be 19+ years of age. If interested, please reach out to Kristine Nolte, Fund Development Coordinator (North Island) at kristine.nolte@islandkidsfirst.com.

  • Q̓ʷalayu House

Q̓ʷalayu House is a home in Campbell River where families from the north Island and surrounding islands can stay while their children receive health care in the region, and where pregnant individuals from remote communities can stay close to hospital as their due date approaches. We are looking for volunteers to help create a sense of home. Whether you have a free hour or are looking for more of a permanent volunteer role, please take a moment to view our current opportunities below:

General house assistance is needed at Qwalayu House completing light tasks such as cleaning, sanitizing, light meal prep, and welcoming guests to the home.

Board members

Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island is recruiting new members to its Board of Directors. As a Board member, you would be joining a group of committed volunteers to provide governance and guidance to our Foundation. The Board meets every two months, and each Director is accountable for serving on one or two committees.

The Board seeks to represent our ethnic and indigenous communities and to ensure we are reflective of the diversity of the communities we serve.  We are also looking for individuals who can represent the needs of children with complex health care needs. Additionally, we are looking for individuals across Vancouver Island who have experience, relationships and networks to support our work in projects and fundraising, who have health care experience, legal expertise, or institutional investment expertise. Please submit your resume or letter of interest outlining your background to: Kathy St. John  at kathy.stjohn@islandkidsfirst.com.
